The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced today that University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball player
Chris Hamil was named the conference's Player of the Week. He earned the honor for the second time this season, and UIS has a league-best three overall awards this year.

Hamil averaged 23.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game for the Prairie Stars who went 2-0 on the week. Hamil shot 70 percent from the field, 68.8 percent from three-point range, and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.

In Saturday's victory over Missouri-St. Louis, Hamil had the best offensive day of the year for a GLVC player. He scored 35 points, the fifth-most in program history for a game. He set a school record with nine three-pointers, which was the most in the conference this year. Hamil made seven three-pointers in the second half to lead the important comeback victory.

Hamil also had 11 points in the win over Lindewnood. He had a +9 plus/minus in each game, and finished the week with 46 points in 52 minutes of action.

On the season, the transfer from Rockhurst is averaging 11.8 points per game, and he is second on the team with 24 three-pointers.
