Women's Golf Jumps Two Teams On Final Day Of Panther Invitational

The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team jumped two spots on the final day of the Panther Invitational at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, Mo. The Prairie Stars finished 11th in the 17-team field.
 
UIS shot a 340 on day one of the competition, tying for 13th in the team standings. In the second round, it recorded a 342 despite the course playing a lot harder. That helped the Prairie Stars finish two spots higher, including passing GLVC rivals Quincy and Truman State.
 
Madison DeRousse led the Prairie Stars with a two-round score of 161 after shooting 80 and 81 over the two days. She tied for 13th in the 104-person field. Also finishing among the top half of golfers was Isabel Segal who had a 164. She had the best round of the tournament for UIS with a 79 on day one.
 
Kathryn Gleason was third on the team with a 177, including an 87 on Monday. Sara Prieto shot 180 for the event, including an 86 on Tuesday. Mackenzie Shumate rounded out the UIS lineup with a 251.
 
UIS will be off until the Flyer Intercollegiate event in Lemont, Ill. on Oct. 4-5.
