The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team opened its fall season on Monday and Tuesday at the UIndy Fall Invitational in Carmel, Ind. The shorthanded Prairie Stars finished 14th in one of the top early season tournaments in NCAA Division II.

Six of the 14 programs in the event were nationally-ranked, and three others were receiving votes in the poll. UIS, which was playing with just four players, shot a 1046 at the competition. Its best round came in round two of the event when it carded a 341.

Madison DeRousse led the Prairie Stars with a three-day score of 244, including back-to-back rounds of 80 to start the competition. She had three birdies and 28 pars in her three rounds.

The remaining three Prairie Stars were near each other in the final standings with
Isabel Segal shooting a 266, and
Sara Prieto and
Kathryn Gleason scoring a 268. Segal's top round was an 86 in the first round, including two birdies on her final nine holes in her first collegiate tournament. Prieto and Gleason both had their top rounds in the second round, with Prieto shooting an 82 and Gleason having an 86.
