The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced their academic honors this week for the 2020-21 school year. The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team were honored both as a team and as individuals.
 
The team earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. That award goes to programs with a team GPA of 3.00 or higher for the past school year. The Prairie Stars finished the season with a team GPA of 3.43. UIS had the highest team GPA in the GLVC last year.
 
Three UIS individuals were also named to the NABC Honors Court. This award goes to individuals who are a junior or senior academically, have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, and must have played at least one year at their current institution. The Prairie Stars to earn this honor are Jesus Castillo, Will Rucker, and Casey Tuttle.
