4/8/2021 11:00:00 AM

The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis starts a difficult road trip this week. The Prairie Stars travel to Indianapolis, the number one team in NCAA Division II, on Friday. That is followed by a Saturday contest at Lewis.

UIS takes a 7-1 overall record into play this week. The Prairie Stars started GLVC action last week with a 5-2 win over McKendree. That included wins in all six matches that were competed on the court.

UIS has won four straight matches. In that span, it has won 15 of 16 singles matches that were not defaults, and captured seven of eight doubles contests.

Neha Mokhasi is the hottest player for UIS with eight straight singles victories. She will hit double-figure wins on the season with a singles victory this week. In doubles, the team of Franca Bucco and Carol Quevedo is 8-0 together this year.

Each individual GLVC school will determine their own attendance policy for tennis. Please check the policies of the home teams if interested in attending a contest. (UIndy | Lewis)
