The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis squad will have its final home game on Saturday morning at Glenwood High School in Chatham, Ill. The Prairie Stars will be taking on Southern Indiana in the 11 a.m. game.

UIS enters play this week with an 8-2 overall record, and it is 2-1 in GLVC action. The Prairie Stars are currently third in the conference standings. In the latest ITA Regional Rankings, UIS checked in at the tenth spot.

Last week, UIS lost to No. 1 Indianapolis by a 6-1 score. The doubles team of
Carol Quevedo and
Franca Bucco earned a big victory with a win over the No. 3 doubles team in the nation.
Neha Mokhasi also won a singles match.

Against Lewis, the Prairie Stars pulled out a 4-3 victory. UIS won both doubles matches and three of four singles matches that were competed on the court.

Mokhasi has now won 10 straight singles matches and is 11-1 on the year. Bucco and Quevedo have captured 10 straight doubles matches, and have a perfect 10-0 mark on the season.

Southern Indiana enters play this week with a 3-8 record overall, and a 0-2 mark in conference play. The Screaming Eagles have lost four straight prior to their Friday match against McKendree.

The Screaming Eagles are 6-5 this season at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Lauren Rowe is the team's best performer with a 7-4 record, mostly at No. 2 singles. The top doubles team is the No. 1 pairing of Rachel McCorkle and Rowe, who are 5-5 on the year.

UIS has won three straight in the series against Southern Indiana. That includes a 7-0 shutout victory in their last meeting in 2019.
