The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team ended its regular season on a high note with a third-place finish at the Triton Invitational in St. Louis, Mo. Among the 14 teams that the Prairie Stars defeated were seven GLVC programs.

Day one of the event on Sunday saw difficult conditions. UIS shot a 331 and placed third, two shots ahead of fourth-place Lindenwood, a team just ahead of the Prairie Stars in the regional rankings. In Monday's second round, the Prairie Stars improved with a 312, again two shots ahead of Lindenwood. UIS's final score of 643 stayed in third, eight shots behind runner-up Missouri S&T.

UIS won with a balanced lineup as no golfer finished in the top-10, but each finished in the top-35 in the 94-person field.

Jennifer Queller led UIS in the first round with an 81, and finished with a team-best 158 for the two rounds. Ocean Pangan was one shot being her for the tournament, including a 74 in the second round.

Kathryn Gleason shot a pair of 82 rounds, which contributed to the team score each day. Madison DeRousse finished with a 165, including breaking 80 in the second round. Paula Valdivia had a 168 for the tournament, including the third-best round on Sunday with an 83.

Brianna Harwell competed as an individual, and she had a 174 for the tournament, including an 80 in the second round.

UIS will now be off until the GLVC Championships on April 23-25 in Fishers, Ind.
