The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team is off to best start in its NCAA era. The Prairie Stars will look to continue their winning ways with its GLVC opener on Saturday in Chatham, Ill. against McKendree.

UIS enters conference play with a 6-1 record. That includes a 4-3 victory over Olivet Nazarene and a 5-2 win over Quincy last weekend.

The Prairie Stars record is even more impressive as it has been accomplished with just four players on the spring roster.
Neha Mokhasi has a perfect 7-0 record in single duals.
Franca Bucco and
Carol Quevedo are both 6-1, and
Sina Skjelstad is 5-2. In doubles, Bucco and Quevedo are 7-0 in duals, and Mokhasi and Skjelstad are 5-2.

McKendree is currently 3-2 on the year, and it comes to Chatham riding a two-game winning streak.

Last Sunday, the Bearcats handled Rockhurst by a 6-1 margin. In doubles, McKendree lost the No. 1 match, but earned the point with wins in the other two slots. McKendree also lost No. 1 singles, but won the other five positions. Victories came from Viola Cipriani, Sara Kalkenova, Camilla Fonseca, Rhyan Cook, and Emily Kettering.
UIS has won four straight in the series history against McKendree. The last meeting came in 2019 when the Prairie Stars won 7-0 in Springfield, Ill.
