Men's track and field runner Blake Jones competed at the Grand Valley State University Snowdown Showdown on Saturday in Allendale, Mich.
 
Jones competed in the 3,000m race. He finished ninth at the competition with a time of 8:23.33, and was fifth among NCAA Division II racers. Among the competitors he finished ahead of included 13 NCAA Division I runners.
 
The UIS track and field team is scheduled to return to Grand Valley next weekend for the GVSU Big Meet event.
