Madison DeRousse finished second out of 68 golfers at the Flyer Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday in Lemont, Ill. The Prairie Stars had their best team score of the year and came in eighth.

DeRousse shot a one-over 73 on Monday, and was tied for the lead after 18 holes. She shot a 78 during the second round, and finished second, five shots behind the leader. In her 36 holes, she recorded eight birdies, the most during the tournament, and only shot one hole worse than a bogey. DeRousse tied for the best score on par-five holes with a 4.67 average, and was also third on par-fours (4.33) and sixth on par-threes (3.17).

Isabel Segal finished in the top half of the field after coming in 30th with a 164 score. Her best round was an 81 on Tuesday, which included nine pars and one birdie.
Kathryn Gleason shot a 169 with rounds of 85 and 84.
Sara Prieto rounded out the team's scoring with a 174, including a 85 on Monday.

UIS finished with a team score of 658. Its two rounds of 326 and 332 were both season-bests for the program. The Prairie Stars came in eighth, just five shots out of seventh. They finished ahead of four regional opponents, including conference opponent Quincy.

The Prairie Stars will be in action again on Oct. 18-18 at the Bearcat Dual Gender in Caseyville, Ill.
