The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team finished its three-game road trip over the last seven days with a winning record. The Prairie Stars went 2-1 in that stretch after an 86-79 win over Maryville on Saturday afternoon.

UIS won the game with a seven-minute stretch in the first half. Prior to that time, the Prairie Stars trailed 14-13, but it did not allow another point from the 15-minute mark until nearly eight minutes remained in the period. UIS held Maryville to 0-for-nine shooting in that span, and also forced two turnovers. Offensively, the Prairie Stars scored 14 points during that time and they wouldn't trail again.

UIS made a season-high 11 three-pointers in the game, including seven in the first half. It finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field, 47.8 percent from three-point range, and 773 percent from the free-throw line. The Prairie Stars held Maryville to 43.3 percent shooting, and the Saints had seven made three-pointers. UIS won the rebounding battle and turned the ball over just nine times in the game.

Matt Wendling had a hot start in the game, hitting five first-half three-pointers, and he would finish with 15 points.
Chase Robinson had a team-high 21 points.
Keymonta Johnson had 15, including nine-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Trey Marble was the fourth player in double-figure scoring with 13. Robinson had a team-high eight rebounds, and Johnson had seven assists, three blocks, and two steals, all team-highs.

UIS improves to 3-3 on the season. The Prairie Stars return to TRAC next Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. game against Lewis.
