Men's Basketball Drops Game At Missouri-St. Louis

The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team could not match the depth of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. The Prairie Stars, who were playing their third game in five days, fell by a 78-50 score.
 
Missouri-St. Louis built a 41-22 lead in the first 20 minutes of the game. UIS shot just 26.9 percent for the half, while Missouri-St. Louis shot 50 percent, including seven-of-12 from three-point range. The Prairie Stars cut that lead to nine early in the second half, but couldn't get any closer against one of the top defensive teams in the league.
 
UIS had just five players with points in the game, including four with eight or more. Missouri-St. Louis, meanwhile, had all eight players in its regular rotation score at least six points in the game. For the game, UIS shot 34 percent from the field, and made four-of-20 three-pointers. Missouri-St. Louis shot 51.9 percent from the field, and 12-of-19 from behind the arc.
 
Chase Robinson had his fifth straight game with 20 or more points by scoring 20, including three-three-pointers. Keymonta Johnson just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Jack Weber had nine points and eight boards. Trey Marble finished with eight points. Weber and Marble had two assists apiece, and Weber and Johnson combined for five blocks.
 
UIS falls to 5-4 on the year. The Prairie Stars are in action again on Tuesday at TRAC versus Indianapolis.
