Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Last Second Shot Doesn't Fall For Men's Basketball Against Indianapolis

The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team fought back from a nine-point deficit to have a chance to win the game, but the Prairie Stars couldn't get a last-second shot to fall in a 75-74 loss against Indianapolis.

UIS trailed 39-30 after 20 minutes of play. In the second half, it cut that deficit to one on three different occasions, including two in the final 33 seconds. The final time was with 19 seconds left on a jumper by Trey Marble.

The Prairie Stars fouled Indianapolis with 14 seconds left, and Indianapolis missed the front end of a one-and-one. UIS came down and got a good look in the final seconds from the corner, but the three-point attempt was off the mark.

UIS shot 60 percent from the field, and was six-of-eight from three-point range and 14-of-14 from the free-throw line. That hot shooting wasn't enough to overcome a nine-turnover deficit against the Greyhounds, including Indianapolis having a 23-8 edge in points off turnovers.

Trey Marble led the Prairie Stars in scoring with 17 points, and he also had a team-high four assists. Chase Robinson collected 16 points, eight rebounds, and three steals, and Keymonta Johnson had 15 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Jack Weber was a perfect six-of-six from the field, and he had 12 points.

UIS falls to 5-5 on the season. The Prairie Stars return home on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game against McKendree.
