Women's Basketball Scores 35 Fourth-Quarter Points In Come-From-Behind Win

The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team scored 35 fourth-quarter points to lead the Prairie Stars to their biggest comeback win of the season. The Prairie Stars defeated Missouri S&T at TRAC on Thursday night by an 83-76 score.
 
UIS trailed by as many as 14 in the first half, and was down 40-29 at halftime. It got within eight in the third quarter, before outscoring the Miners 35-20 in the fourth. UIS made 10-of-14 from the field, including four-of-five three-pointers, in the final 10 minutes, and also sank 11-of-14 free throws.
 
Malea Jackson had the biggest three-pointer, putting UIS ahead 61-60 with 7:30 remaining in the game. That sparked a 13-1 run that put the Prairie Stars ahead by 10. UIS stayed hot even after that, and won by seven points.
 
For the game, Missouri S&T shot 47.1 percent from the field, compared to 40.6 percent for UIS. The Prairie Stars made three more three-pointers and 12 more free throws though. UIS also had six more rebounds, and forced three more turnovers.
 
The Prairie Stars were balanced offensively, with six players in double-figure scoring. Jasmine Sangster and Makenna Fee both had team-highs with 15 points. Malea Jackson and Lauren Ladowski each scored 12, and Katelyn Rosner and Tehya Fortune had 10 apiece. Rosner and Fee led the team with seven rebounds, and Ladowski had a team-high four assists. Rosner finished with a team-high +16 plus/minus in less than 16 minutes of playing time, and Grace Weber had a +12 mark in just over 11 minutes.
 
UIS improves to 8-15 overall and 3-12 in the GLVC. The Prairie Stars are home again on Saturday afternoon versus Maryville.
