The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team used a balanced effort at the annual Dan Salisbury Memorial tournament held this week at Panther Creek Country in Springfield, Ill. Four players finished in the top-15, and all five players contributed as the team finished fourth in the ten-team event.

The Prairie Stars opened the event on Sunday with a 321, and improved by four shots in Monday's second round. Their final score of 638 was fourth overall, including third among eight GLVC teams at the event.

Paula Valdivia led UIS in round one with a two-over 74. She had three birdies on the day, and shot one-under for the final 12 holes. She finished the tournament with a two-round score of 158, which placed her seventh in the individual standings.

The trio of
Madison DeRousse,
Kathryn Gleason, and
Jennifer Queller all shot a 161, and tied for 13
th overall. All three improved their scores in the second round with DeRousse and Gleason shooting a 78, and Queller carding an 80. Also improving her second-round mark was
Brianna Harwell who had an 81, which was among the team's top-four on the round.

UIS ranked second in the tournament with a 4.55 score on par-four holes, and was third on par-three holes with a 3.43 scoring average. It was second with 12 birdies. DeRousse and Gleason were in top-10 in most pars, and Queller was fifth in birdies.

UIS will conclude its fall season on Oct. 19-20 at the Bearcat Dual Gender event in Caseyville, Ill.
