The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team improved to 6-0 on its home court with a 92-63 victory over William Jewell on Thursday night at TRAC.

The Prairie Stars started slow, trailing 24-17 with eight minutes left in the first half. UIS outscored the Cardinals 26-10 for the rest of the period, and then outscored William Jewell 49-29 in the second half.

UIS finished the game shooting 59.7 percent from the field, including 50 points in the paint. Defensively, it held William Jewell to 33.8 percent shooting. The Prairie Stars had 12 more rebounds, and they just turned the ball over six times.

Keymonta Johnson led UIS with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Matt Wendling had 14 points, and
Daniel Soetan scored 12 and also had seven boards.

UIS was in foul trouble for much of the game, giving some different players a chance to step up.
Jesus Castillo,
Aundrae Williams, and
Alonso Meana all had eight points off the bench. Meana finished with five assists, and Williams had four.
Kaj Days, who was starting for the third time this year, made all three field goals he attempted and finished with six points and four rebounds.

UIS improves to 9-3 overall and 2-2 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars continue their homestand on Saturday with a 3 p.m. contest against Rockhurst.
