Track and Field Sets Two Records At Tom Hathaway Distance Challenge

The University of Illinois Springfield set two school records and numerous personal records over the weekend at the Tom Hathaway Distance Challenge in Indianapolis, Ind.
 
On the men's side, Tyler Hiserote won the 3000m race with a new school standard of 8:35.65. Tyler Pasley also had a strong finish in that race by coming in third. Emmons King was runner-up in the 5,000m, and had the fastest time among the collegiate runners in the race. Alex Phelps was third in the 5,000m and Spencer Mauch was fourth. Other event leaders were Cayden Kirkham finishing fourth in the 800m, and Brendan Kroeger coming in fifth in the mile.
 
The new women's record was set by Gloria Esarco in the mile run. She finished third in the event with a time of 5:07.17. The other top women's highlight was the distance medley relay team which came in second with a time of 12:51.94. The members of that team were Savannah Brannan, Taryn Christy, Katie Curry, and Libby Price. Also for the women, Lexi Throne finished fifth in the 3,000m.
 
UIS will have one of its biggest regular season meets of the year next Saturday at the Pittsburg State Invitational.
