Men's Basketball Can't Overcome Slow Start At Truman

The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team fell in a big hole on Thursday night in Kirksville, Mo. The Prairie Stars fought back within five in the second half, but ran out of steam as they fell to Truman State by a 74-61 score.
 
UIS had a 5-4 lead early in the game, but Truman went on a 23-5 run over the next 5:40 to take control of the game. Chase Robinson finally got the Prairie Stars back on track by scoring six straight points. He would end up scoring 16 points in the half to get UIS within 41-32.
 
Early in the second half, a 5-0 run got UIS within five points at 48-43. Truman would never let them get any closer, as neither team could get a big run going in the final part of the second half.
 
Truman shot 52.6 percent from the field in the game, compared to 40.7 percent for UIS. The Bulldogs had a +3 rebounding margin and a +6 turnover margin as well.
 
Robinson finished with a team-high 19 points, and also grabbed seven rebounds. Keymonta Johnson finished with 13, and Daniel Soetan had 12. Jesus Castillo had nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.
 
UIS falls to 9-5 overall and 2-4 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will travel to Quincy on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game.
