The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team opened up its 2019-20 season on Monday and Tuesday in Carmel, Ind. at the UIndy Fall Invitational. The Prairie Stars finished 15th in the event that included 10 nationally-ranked teams, including three out of the top-five programs.

UIS was consistent during the 15-team tournament with rounds of 330, 326, and 326. Its total of 982 was five shots shy of 14th-place Northwood.

Paula Valdivia led the Prairie Stars after breaking 80 in all three rounds. She shot a 77 during both rounds on Monday, and recorded a 79 on Tuesday. Her final total of 233 helped her tie for 32nd among the competitive field.

Jennifer Queller finished with a two-day total of 237 and tied for 42nd. She shot a round of 76 for her second 18 holes, which was the best round by a UIS player during the tournament.
Ocean Pangan concluded with a 244, and she tied for the team-best 79 in the third round.

Bri Harwell and
Ashley Miller rounded out the team. Harwell recorded a 268, and
Ashley Miller collected a score of 288. Katie Malcom competed as an individual and had a 54-hole total of 257.

UIS will be in action this weekend when it hosts the Dan Salisbury Memorial at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Ill.
