The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team saw its seven-match winning streak snapped on Tuesday night in Romeoville, Ill. The Prairie Stars fell to No. 6 Lewis by scores of 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, and 25-19.

Lewis came into the match with victories in its last 17 sets. UIS snapped that streak in the first set thanks to its serving and a strong offensive set. The Prairie Stars hit .308 and had four service aces, which led them to its first ever set victory in Romeoville. UIS jumped out to a 8-3 lead early in the set, and then went on a 7-1 run later in the set to clinch the win.

The Prairie Stars couldn't keep up with that offensive pace though for the rest of the match. Lewis held UIS to a .089 hitting percentage the rest of the match, and it had just three more service aces.

For the match, Lewis finished with 56 kills, 12 more than UIS. The Prairie Stars had a .128 hitting percentage, compared to .264 for Lewis. Defensively, the Flyers had four more blocks and two more digs.

Hannah Nicolaisen led UIS with 13 kills, followed by
Rachel Cobert and
Alli Splitt with nine apiece.
Becca Blakeley had 30 assists. Other team leaders were Cobert with three service aces, Splitt with five blocks, and
Jailyn Borum with 25 digs.

UIS falls to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will be back in action on Thursday night at TRAC with a 5 p.m. match against Bellarmine.
