Women's Golf Places 13th At Site Of 2020 NCAA Division II National Championships

The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team competed at the NCAA Division II National Preview in St. Albans, Mo. on Monday and Tuesday. The Prairie Stars finished 13th at the event which was being held on the same course as the 2020 NCAA Division II National Championships will take place.
 
UIS, which was missing one of its regular top-three golfers, finished with a total score of 1035. It shot scores of 344 for the first and third rounds, and a 347 in the middle 18 holes.
 
Paula Valdivia led the Prairie Stars for the third time in four meets this year. She broke 80 in each round, and had a total of 234, which placed her 19th overall. Her top round came in Monday's first 18 holes when she shot a five-over 76. Her Tuesday round of 79 included three birdies.
 
Ocean Pangan finished 29th in the 81-person field with a 241. She opened the tournament with an 85, and then improved each time with a 79 and 77. Pangan had 19 pars and three birdies over her final 36 holes.
 
Ashley Miller was third on the team with a three-round total of 273, followed by Katie Malcom with a 287, and Eleni Monroe with a 301.
 
UIS ends its fall season on Oct. 28-29 at the UIS Island Getaway event in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
