Alli Splitt Setting Records And Leading UIS Volleyball To Hot Start

10/1/2019 9:01:00 AM

University of Illinois Springfield senior volleyball player Alli Splitt had a big month in September for the Prairie Stars. She helped the team jump out to a quick 10-4 start, and she continued to rewrite the UIS volleyball record book for its NCAA era.

Splitt leads the 2019 UIS squad with 3.44 points per set, and 161.5 total points. She is second on the team with 132 kills and 36 blocks, and fourth with nine service aces.

During the team's road trip through Ohio in mid-September, Splitt passed two major milestones in program history. She recorded the 1,000th kill of her career against Tiffin, and then became the program's all-time kills leader in its NCAA era a match later against Findlay. Splitt currently has 1,025 career kills, which is just seven shy of moving her into second place in program history for both the NCAA and NAIA eras.

Splitt is chasing two other career records during the team's NCAA era. She has 66 service aces, six shy of the current program record. Splitt also has 1289.5 career points, less than 82 behind the current record holder.

If she stays healthy, Splitt could also break the program's NCAA record for matches played and sets played, and is currently in first for career hitting percentage with a .332 mark. Splitt is also second in the career record book in block assists and total blocks, and needs four more solo blocks to become the runner-up in that category.

Splitt earned first-team all-GLVC honors last season, and was also an honorable mention all-region and All-American selection. The Prairie Stars have a record of 68-43 during her time in Springfield, including a 57-23 record since her sophomore season. Last year, Splitt played a major role in UIS earning its first GLVC regular season championship, and earning its first NCAA Tournament bid.
