The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team competed in the ITA Regional Championships over the weekend in Allendale, Mich.

Ashley Long had the best singles run, winning her first two matches before falling in the round of 16. She only dropped two games in her first round match, and then won 7-5 and 6-2 in the second round. Long lost her next match by identical 6-3 scores.

Also in singles,
Maegan Flight won her first match, and
Kena Bere won a match in the consolation bracket.

In doubles, both UIS teams in the top bracket won their opening match. The team of
Neha Mokhasi and Long won 8-4 in the opening round before having to withdraw before their next match. The doubles team of Flight and Bere won its first round match by a score of 8-3, and then lost in the round of 16.

The women's tennis team will be in action in dual play this Friday at 2 p.m. against Illinois Wesleyan.
