Box Score O'FALLON, IL – NCAA Division I's Saint Louis University topped the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women's tennis in a 5-2 victory on Friday.
 
The Prairie Stars (4-2) scored two points in singles. Jane Carter (10-2) bested Cassie McKenzie (10-8) in a 6-3, 7-5 victory in No. 1 singles and Meagan Flight (8-3) recorded a 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 victory over Ariana Rodriguez (5-9) in No. 4 singles.
 
The Billikens (3-5) took two victories in doubles. McKenzie/Rodriguez (2-0) posted a 6-1 win against Carter/Ana Boza Martin (3-2) in No. 1 doubles. Mariliz Rojo/Alana Bourgeois (3-1) earned a 6-2 victory against Kena Bere/Kaitlyn Thornhill (2-2) in No. 2 doubles. Since Division I scoring awards only one point in doubles, the match in No. 3 doubles remained unfinished since Saint Louis had already clinched the doubles point. Maegan Flight/Kate Dumsdorff (0-0) held a 5-3 lead against Alba Salinas/Carla Folch (1-1) in No. 3 doubles when the match was called.
 
Rojo (10-7) picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win against Bere (6-5) in No. 2 singles, Borgeois (3-2) contributed a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Boza Martin (6-6) in No. 3 singles, Salinas (10-4) provided a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Thornhill (5-3) in No. 5 singles and Folch (2-3) turned in a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Hannah Blythe (4-4) in No. 6 singles.
 
The Prairie Stars close out the weekend by going head-to-head with William Jewell College (1-4) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Washington Park.
