The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team matched its longest winning streak of its NCAA era on Sunday afternoon with a road victory at Missouri Western. The Prairie Stars won their sixth straight game with an 89-81 win in St. Joseph, Mo.

UIS hit the 80-point mark for the seventh time this season. While its shooting had a little rust after its break, the Prairie Stars kept the points coming by turning the ball over just three times in the game, 10 fewer than Missouri Western. The Prairie Stars also went to the free-throw line 37 times, which led to 27 points.

Peyton Allen returned to the lineup and led the team with 25 points. He also had the biggest basket of the game with under two minutes remaining. The Griffons trailed by just three points at 76-73 when Allen got to the basketball and made a layup while being fouled. UIS made 10 free throws after that to close out the victory.

Allen made eight field goals in the game, and shot nine-of-11 from the free-throw line. He also led the team with eight rebounds.
Gilwan Nelson had 16 points, followed by
Vince Walker with 15,
Aundrae Williams with 12, and
Bahari Amaya with 11. Nelson was six-of-12 from the field, and Walker hit three three-pointers. Williams had two steals and two assists to go along with double-figure points. Amaya had a season-high 11 points, his second straight game in double figures.
Cole Harper finished the game with seven rebounds, one more than
Collin Stallworth.

UIS improves to 8-3 on the season. The Prairie Stars have their final non-conference game of the regular season on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home game against Lincoln Christian.
