The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team ended its non-conference portion of the regular schedule on Wednesday night at home with a 101-77 victory over Lincoln Christian.

The Prairie Stars offense was hot throughout the game, scoring 50 or more points in each half. Despite the high scoring offense, UIS led by just five at halftime by a 50-45 margin. It pulled away in the second half though after its defense started getting stops. Lincoln Christian scored just 32 points in the final half after UIS held it to under 40 percent shooting for the period, and forced eight turnovers for those 20 minutes of play.

UIS finished the game shooting 50.7 percent from the field, and it made 14 three-pointers. The Prairie Stars had 27 assists on their 35 field goals, and turned the ball over just nine times. UIS also had a 44-27 advantage on the boards.

Gilwan Nelson and
Vince Walker both scored over 20 points. Nelson led the team with 23 after making nine-of-17 from the field, and Walker had 21 points, including five three-pointers.

The Prairie Stars got a big boost from its bench in the game, including outscoring the Red Lions by a 41-18 margin in bench points.
Bahari Amaya had 15 points, and
Collin Stallworth had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Logan Gonce had nine assists in the game, and turned the ball over just once.

UIS improves to 9-3 on the season, and it will take a seven-game winning streak, the longest in its NCAA era, into Saturday's game when GLVC action resumes with a 3 p.m. home game against McKendree.
