Maggie Juhlin provided a goal for the Prairie Stars 14 minutes into the match during Sunday's Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matchup at Rolla, Mo.
Juhlin capitalized off a pass from
Erin Bolskar.
Missouri S&T (4-8-1, 3-6-1) came away with a 2-1 victory against the Prairie Stars (2-10-2, 2-8).
During the 11th minute, Missouri S&T made a pass upfield. UIS knocked down the pass, but Morgan Sikora came up with a steal and created a breakaway for a score.
Juhlin's goal evened the match at 1-all four minutes later.
The Miners converted the go-ahead goal 54 minutes into the match. Carli Tastad redirected a pass from the endline to give Missouri S&T the lead. Sikora and Kayla Foster were credited with assists.
Juhlin recorded a team-high four shots.
Kayla Meyer contributed two shots while
Angela Dagnino and
Sam Christensen each added shots.
UIS's
Paloma Guijarro saw four shots and came up with two saves.
Missouri S&T's Liz Carrano saved two of the three shots she faced.
Among UIS Division II career leaders, Juhlin is tied for fifth in goals (7) and in points (18). Bolskar is tied for eighth in UIS Division II history with four career assists.
Missouri S&T edged UIS 9-8 in shots and held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.
The Prairie Stars are scheduled for two GLVC matchups at Kiwanis Stadium next weekend. UIS faces off with the University of Missouri-St. Louis (3-9-1, 2-7-1) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Prairie Stars then take on Truman State University (10-3-1, 6-3-1) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
