WHEATON, IL – The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women's cross country team earned seventh in Saturday's Wheaton Gil Dodds Invitational.
UIS compiled a team score of 196 points to take seventh in a 13-team field. The meet consisted of nine NCAA Division III schools, which include Carroll University, Carthage College, Grinnell College, Illinois Wesleyan University, Millikin University, North Central College, North Central University and Washington University.
Krissy Finley led the way for UIS after taking 23rd with a 6K time of 23 minutes, 39.9 seconds.
Lexi Throne finished 46th (24:34.9) while
Lexi Yoggerst raced to 60th (25:04.7) with a personal-record time.
Libby Price came in 62nd (25:09.4) while teammate
Savannah Brannan finished 1.4 seconds behind her in 63rd (25:10.8).
Kelsey Cleary took 66th (25:13.3),
Olivia Rohr secured 73rd (25:30.4),
Claire Eaton locked up 100th (26:23.5),
Alexandria Quarton took 106th (26:32.7),
Abbie Lemley finished in 115th (26:43.4), Rachel Crowley came in 139th (28:01.4) and
Hannah Roberts placed in 158th (29:18.3).
Washington, which is ranked No. 2 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III poll, claimed first with 22 points. Wheaton earned second with 47 points, finishing ahead of Grinnell (110), North Central College (120), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) affiliate Judson University (158), Carroll (169), UIS (196), Illinois Wesleyan (202), Carthage (242), Millikin (254), National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) affiliate College of DuPage (313), NJCAA's Moraine Valley Community College (386) and North Central University (389), which rounded out the team standings. Wheaton and Grinnell are receiving votes in the latest national poll.
Wheaton's Hannah Roeske charged to first after clocking a time of 22:20.8. She completed the course at 7:11-mile pace.
UIS returns to action on Sept. 29 in the Illinois Intercollegiate at 5 p.m. in Bourbonnais, IL.
