SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (8-8, 3-2) notched their third Great Lakes Valley Conference win of the season with a 9-0 sweep of St. Joseph's College after suffering a tough 1-8 defeat to Lewis the day before. The Prairie Stars have one more home match left on Wednesday, April 12
th against Missouri Baptist --- which will serve as senior day --- before ending the regular season at Bellarmine on April 14
th.
Against Lewis on Friday,
Maegan Flight picked up the Prairie Stars' lone win in the fifth slot in singles play. Flight won 6-4, 6-1 to secure the win. After dropping all three doubles matches, UIS got a tough match in the top singles slot, as
Jane Carter fell 6-7, 6-2, 1-0.
Taking on the Puma's on Saturday, it was a much different story as UIS swept the entire day, winning the three doubles matches 8-4, 8-0, and 8-0. In singles, UIS dropped just four total games across five of the matches, while Carter picked up a tough 7-6, 6-2 victory at number one.
UIS sits in fourth place in the GLVC east and will face top ranked Bellarmine in their final match.
