Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Prairie Stars End Skid with Win at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, MO --- Lijah Donnelly and Vince Walker both had career-nights from deep, hitting 11 three's between the two of them to lead Illinois Springfield to 87-75. Donnelly scored 21 points --- one shy of his career-high --- on 6-of-9 shooting, including 6-of-8 from deep while Walker connected on 5-of-9 from deep for 17 points.

Four Prairie Stars reached double-figures as Paxton Harmon scored 16 points and Eddie Longmeyer put in 15 points and dished out six assists.

UIS fell behind 6-0 early on a couple quick buckets but Walker answered with back-to-back three's but Missouri S&T answered with a 7-0 run to take a 13-6 lead. The Miners stretched their lead to as much as 14 in the first half but UIS answered with a 17-3 run to tie the game at 31-31. After the Miners regained the lead at 32-31, but UIS went on a 8-0 run to take a 39-32 lead with 1:22 remaining.

The Miners hit a three at the buzzer to cut the UIS lead to 39-35 but the Prairie Stars closed the half on a 25-7 run over the final 7:02 to take a three point lead.

UIS never trailed in the second half and increased their lead to as much as 18 points in the final minutes.

Donnelly's six three's are the most by a UIS player since Walker hit a record seven against Wisconsin-Parkside on January 26th. His 21 points were one shy of his career-high but the most against a Division II opponent this season.

Longmeyer's six assists led the team, which was the 14th time this season he has led the Prairie Stars in assists. Walker, after hitting five three's on the night, now has 95 career three's and sits just one from the top-five in UIS history as he looks to become the fifth player to ever connect on 100 shots from deep.

With the win, UIS snapped a six-game losing streak and has now won their third GLVC game on the road this season. They previously beat William Jewell and McKendree and now keep their hopes alive for the 12th spot in the GLVC tournament.

The Prairie Stars are now tied with St. Joseph's and half a game back of McKendree but hold a game in hand with the Bearcats as they have to make up a game on the road against Rockhurst.

UIS will tip-off against Drury on Saturday at 3 PM.
