Box Score SPRINGFIELD, IL --- Illinois Springfield bested Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Truman State on Saturday by a score of 8-1. With the win, UIS improved to 3-0 in dual matches this fall.
The Prairie Stars began the day with a clean sweep in doubles action, as
Jane Carter and
Ana Boza Martin won 8-6, followed by the duo of
Kaitlyn Thornhill and
Kena Bere winning 8-3.
Hana Iverson and
Maegan Flight closed out the sweep with an 8-2 win.
In singles, Carter picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win in the top spot while Bere battled to the lone three set victory on the day, winning 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Boza Martin won 6-1, 7-5 before Flight and
Hannah Blythe closed out the dominating victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win and 7-5, 6-1 win, respectively.
The lone loss was the first match UIS has dropped in the fall season so far, improving their match record to 26-1 in dual match play.
Carter is now 7-2 in singles play on the year and holds a 4-2 doubles record. The duo of Flight and Iverson are 5-1 in doubles this year.
UIS will conclude their fall schedule against Maryville on Saturday, October 21
st with a match at 1:00 PM.
