SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (7-11, 2-7) suffered their second straight heartbreaking defeat, falling to the University of Indianapolis (10-7, 7-2) by a score of 70-67. Illinois Springfield had the ball with 3.1 seconds to go but couldn't get a shot off, having to go the length of the court in an attempt to tie the game.
The Prairie Stars led for the majority of the first half, but a three at the buzzer for UIndy gave the Greyhounds a 34-33 lead at the break. The Prairie Stars wouldn't regain the lead until the 11:14 mark but UIndy responded on the next play, taking the lead back, one they would not relinquish.

Vince Walker connected on his first three of the night to give UIS the early lead.
Zach Steinberg gave UIS a five-point lead on two free throws before Days gave the Prairie Stars their biggest lead of the half on a layup with 9:06 to go in the half, putting UIS up seven.
They Greyhounds responded with a quick 6-0 run on back-to-back three's but UIS held their lead until the 1:58 mark when UIndy took the lead on a three-point play.
Paxton Harmon responded with a three ball to tie the game at 30, preceding an old-fashioned three-point play from
Eddie Longmeyer. UIndy made a free throw with 23 seconds to play before getting the final shot of the half to fall with time expiring to take a 34-33 lead.
In the second half, UIS trailed by as much as six with 13:11 to go but another three-point play from Longmeyer and three ball from Harmon cut into the deficit.
Lijah Donnelly completed the comeback with his first three of the night, giving UIS a 52-51 lead with 11:14 to play.
However, back-to-back jumpers from the Greyhounds gave them back the lead and UIS would not recover. UIS trailed by nine with 3:33 to go and went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to three, forcing UIndy into two missed jumpers in the final 66 seconds. With 3.1 seconds to play, UIS had a chance to tie but a pass from
Wayde Smith was knocked down by the Greyhounds as time ran out.
Eddie Longmeyer put up another stellar performance, shooting 6-of-12 from the field for 19 points, nine boards, and five assists, while committing no turnovers in 35 minutes of play. Days put together 27 minutes of hard play, scoring 10 points on 5-of-7 from the field. Harmon, Steinberg, and Walker each had nine points.
UIS will head on the road next week to take on #22 Wisconsin-Parkside before traveling to Lewis University on Saturday.
