KANSAS CITY, MO --- The Prairie Stars (7-7, 1-5) fell for the second straight GLVC game on the road, suffering a 86-66 defeat to Rockhurst (10-4, 5-2).
Shelbi Patterson led Illinois Springfield with 19 points but UIS was outscored in all four quarters, leading to a 20-point defeat.
The Prairie Stars started out hot, hitting their first two jumpers from the field but the Hawks used a 12-0 run to take a 14-4 lead in the first four minutes and never looked back. UIS trimmed the deficit to three on multiple occasions in the first quarter but a three in the final minute from the Hawks gave them a six-point advantage after one.
Rockhurst ended the half on a 6-2 run to take a nine-point lead into the break.
In the third, Rockhurst extended their lead to as much as 22 before UIS went on a 7-0 run to cut back into the deficit.
Patterson ended the game with 19 points on 8-of-16 from the field and hit both of her three point attempts. The junior guard also grabbed eight boards and had one steal.Â
Destiny Ramsey and
Caroline Kelty also reached double figures, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Syerra Cunningham was held in check all day, totaling just seven points and eight rebounds in the loss.
UIS will play have a quick turnaround as they travel to McKendree for their first match-up with the Bearcats of thee season. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
