SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (5-4, 2-4) will travel to Wisconsin – Parkside and Lewis University this weekend for another slate of GLVC matchups. The Prairie Stars enter the weekend with a 2-4 mark in conference play, coming off a weekend in which they beat Saint Joseph's 4-1 before falling to the University of Indianapolis 1-0.
Both games will kick-off at 2:30 PM and will have live streaming and live stats available.
SETTING THE SCENE
With their win against Saint Joseph's, the Prairie Stars matched their season win total from last season, which also matches the program record for wins in a season with five.
The Prairie Stars currently sit in tenth in the GLVC as we approach the halfway mark in the conference schedule. Wisconsin – Parkside and Lewis sit sixth and eighth, respectively, which makes this weekend crucial for post-season seeding.
This weekend will mark the halfway point in the conference season as the schedule contains 17 GLVC contests.
MARTIN MAKING HER MARK
Macy Martin, who transferred in from Illinois Central College, has made her mark with the Prairie Stars so far in her career. She currently leads the team in goals (4), points (8), shots (23), shots on goal (14), and is tied with
Maggie Juhlin in game-winning goals (2).
These totals have her ranked in the top-ten in the conference in three categories: goals, goals per game, and game-winning goals.
PRAIRIE STAR NOTES
UIS ranks third in the GLVC in total shots (135), averaging 15 per game. They also have fired 66 shots on goal, also ranking them third behind McKendree and Rockhurst.
Courtney Johnson ranks seventh in the GLVC in goals against average, allowing just .760 goals per game in her freshman campaign. Johnson has a save percentage of .838, putting her fifth overall, while recording two shutouts on the year.
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS
The Rangers (4-3-1, 4-2) enter the weekend in sixth place in the GLVC, picking up four consecutive wins which were bookended by losses to Rockhurst and Bellarmine. Lewis (4-4-1, 2-3-1) enters the weekend after suffering two losses to Bellarmine and Southern Indiana last week. The Flyers have only been shut out twice on the year, coming in the first two GLVC games of the year.
