SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The University of Illinois Springfield has announced the addition of a dance team that will perform at varsity competitions as well as campus events. Try-outs for the team will be held on April, 9^th in the Student Life Building (SLB) and those interested in trying out should contact Jessica Dorsey at jdors2@uis.edu. Registration begins at 8:00 am with the actual try-outs beginning at 9:00 and running until 5:00 pm. Try-outs are open to any current UIS students or those graduating high school that will be attending UIS in the fall.

The team will debut in the fall of 2016 and continues the growth of an athletic department that has already increased by four varsity teams in the past calendar year. This addition will add varsity athletes and continue the mission of the UIS athletic department to enhance the experience of student – athletes on campus. The dance team will further develop the atmosphere at both men's and women's basketball games as well as events across campus.
