Live Stats | Live Video SPRINGFIELD, IL - The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team takes on Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside this weekend. Game times are set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m., respectively.
Last weekend, the Prairie Stars defeated Missouri S&T, 1-0, and then lost to Drury, 0-2. On Friday against the Miners, sophomore
Sam Morin (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) found herself in front of the net with the ball and didn't miss, scoring her second of the season and giving the Prairie Stars their third straight victory.
Sunday's loss to Drury ended one of the the Prairie Stars' best three-game stretches in the program's history. The team won three straight, recorded three consecutive shutouts and didn't allow a goal for 330:06 minutes, just under 42 minutes short of the program record.
Game Notes- The Prairie Stars are 3-5 on the season and 2-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. They have won three of their last four.
- UIS has scored eight goals and allowed 11 in eight games so far this season. Through eight games last year, the team scored only five and allowed 13.
- Sunday's 2-0 loss to Drury was the first time that the Prairie Stars have been shut out this season.
- Freshman Karisa Rogers (St. Charles, Mo.) continues to lead the team in goals (3) and points (7).
- Last season, the Prairie Stars fought to a 2-2 draw with Lewis at Kiwanis Stadium.
Lewis- The Flyers are 5-3-1 this season with a 3-2-1 GLVC mark.
- Lewis split its games last weekend, defeating Maryville 1-0 before falling to UMSL, 4-0.
- Senior Maggie Moran leads the team with five goals, four assists and 14 points.
Wisconsin-Parkside- The Rangers are 2-5-1 this season with a 1-4-1 GLVC mark.
- UWP is on a three-game skid, losing each by just one goal.
- Last season, the nationally-ranked Rangers defeated the Prairie Stars, 1-0, at Kiwanis Stadium.
