SPRINGFIELD, IL -Â The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team hosts Rockhurst and William Jewell this weekend at Kiwanis Stadium. Game times are set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m., respectively.
The Prairie Stars enter the weekend after picking up their first win of the season on Tuesday against Judson, 1-0.Â
What to Watch For?- Freshman Karisa Rogers (St. Charles, Mo.) scored goals in each of the last three games. The last player to score in three consecutive games was Ashley Surface back in 2013.
- The Prairie Stars are 0-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and look to pick up their first conference win of the season. The UIS record for GLVC wins in a season is three set back in 2011.
- Senior Paige Polonus (Plainfield, Ill.) is just 27 saves away from surpassing Kelli Kubal for the most saves in the program's history. Polonus currently has 287 saves in 49 for her career
Rockhurst- The Hawks are 1-1-3 on the season after losing for the first time this season last Sunday to Drury, 2-1.
- Rockhurst allowed just four goals in its first five games this season. Junior goalkeeper Ali Wallner started the last three games and recorded two shutouts.
- Three players are tied for the team lead with four points
- Last season, Rockhurst defeated UIS, 3-0, at Kiwanis Stadium
William Jewell- The Cardinals are 2-0-2 this season. The team opened GLVC play last weekend with a tie and a 2-1 win against Missouri S&T.
- Junior Emily Monroe leads the team with two goals and five points
- Last season, William Jewell defeated UIS, 1-0, at Kiwanis Stadium.
