Women's Basketball Hosts Greenville College on Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD, IL - The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team begins a three-game home stand Tuesday when UIS takes on Greenville College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at The Recreation and Athletic Center. 

Fans can receive free admission to the game on Tuesday if they bring a new toy or item for the boys and girls of St. John's Children's Hospital.

  • The Prarie Stars are on a three-game skid dating back to Nov. 28. UIS is 2-0 at home this season, they will look to keep the streak alive as they play their next three games at TRAC. 
  • UIS opened GLVC play to Bellarmine and Southern Indiana last week. The Prairie Stars fell to Bellarmine, 58-72, and Southern Indiana, 64-79.

UIS is 3-4 in the regular season with a 2-0 home record. The Prairie Stars will play three home games in a row for a chance to go 5-0 at home and 6-4 overall. The team is averaging 69 points, 39 rebounds, and 19.5 assists per game at home.

The Prairie Stars have yet to have a double-digit winning season since joining the GLVC in 2009. UIS won nine games in the 2011-12 season. The last time the Prairie Stars won double-digit games was in the 2006-07 season when they won 15 games.

Cunningham is tied for second in offensive rebounds (27) and fifth in defensive rebounds (37) in the GLVC. Sophomore Shelbi Patterson (Indianapolis, Ind) is eighth in the GLVC in assists per game (4.14). Senior Ashley McHenry (Milwaukee, Wis.) is fourth in shooting percentage (61%).

  • Greenville is 4-2 in the regular season with a 2-1 away record.
  • The Panthers have four players with double-digit points led by junior Taylor Paulin with 13.5 points per game. 
  • Greenville is shooting 47.7 percent from the field, averaging 43 rebounds, and six blocks this season.
