SPRINGFIELD, IL - The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team's two-game winning streak ended on Saturday as Southern Indiana defeated UIS 3-0 at TRAC.

UIS Top Performers- Freshman Emma Burkle (Crystal Lake, Ill.) tied for the team lead in with six kills. She hit .357 for the match and picked up two block assists.
- Senior Rachelle Wiegand (Hecker, Ill.) hit a team-best .429 for the match and recorded four kills.
- Freshman Alyssa Hasler (South Bend, Ind.) led the block for UIS and finished with one block solo and three block assists.
How It Happened- The Prairie Stars opened the match on a 6-2 run but the visitors quickly scored four straight points to tie the game. The first set was tied for the seventh time at 15-15 before USI took control with fives straight points to open up a 20-15 lead.
- UIS fought back by scoring five of the next seven points to cut the deficit to two, 22-20. The teams traded points and USI took the first set 25-22.
- In the second set, the visitors jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but the Prairie Stars again battled back, coming within one point, 14-13, on a kill by senior Heather Smack (St. Louis, Mo.). After the teams traded points, the Screaming Eagles scored six straight to take a 21-14 lead, which they held to take the second set, 25-18.
- The Prairie Stars took an early lead in the third set. The score was tied at 3-3, 5-5 and 6-6 before the visitors went on another run, this time with five straight points to take an 11-6 lead. The Prairie Stars answered with a run of their own, scoring the next four points to cut the deficit to just one.
- USI used a 14-3 run to close out the third set 25-13 and take the match, 3-0.
For the Opponents- Erica Oberbroeckling and Shelbi Morris led the visitors in kills with 12 and 13, respectively.
- The Screaming Eagles hit .261 for the match, led by Oberbroeckling at .391.
