SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team let in two-second half goals as the visiting Lewis Flyers took the 2-0 win on Friday evening at Kiwanis Stadium.
The Flyers limited UIS to just six shots (three on target) including a team-best two from junior

The Prairie Stars threatened to score in the early going with three corner kicks in a four-minute span. In the 22nd minute, senior
Chukwuka Iwe (Lago, Nigeria) ripped a shot that was on target but right at Lewis keeper Omar Ramirez.
The Flyers nearly went ahead in the 32nd minute. An Ivan Surlina effort was cleared off the line by the Prairie Stars, keeping the game scoreless into halftime.
After the break, Lewis began to create more scoring chances. Hamilton saves in the 52nd and 58th minute kept the score even, but the visitors broke the deadlock in the 67th minute when a long throw-in found the head of Luke Comerouski, who finished the chance to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.
UIS countered in the very next minute, finding freshman Ismael Serrators (Carthage, Mo.) for a shot, but Ramirez was there for the save. The Flyers increased their advantage in the 72nd minute when David Pyle drilled a shot into the top of the net from 20 yards out after the ball came to him from a corner kick.
The Prairie Stars came back with shots in the 72nd and 83rd minutes but were unable to score.
UIS is back in action on Sunday against Wisconsin-Parkside. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
