SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team wraps up a three-game road swing on Wednesday when the Prairie Stars travel to Concordia-Chicago. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The Prairie Stars look to snap a two-game skid after starting 0-2 this season. Last weekend, UIS fell to Hillsdale, 92-62, and Lake Superior State, 49-44.

Shelbi Patterson and sophomore
Syerra Cunningham.
Growing Up FastUnderclassmen have played a large role in both games this season. Freshman
Shelbi Patterson (11.5 pts) and sophomore
Syerra Cunningham (10.5 pts, 8.5 rebs) lead the Prairie Stars in scoring and rebounding. Sophomore
Caroline Kelty also started in both games, scoring 11 points in the opener to go along with five rebounds and four assists.
PerfectionThe 2014-15 Prairie Stars feature two freshmen including guard
Shelbi Patterson. In her UIS debut on Thursday against Hillsdale, she was perfect from the field (8-8) on her way to 20 points. It was the most points scored by a UIS player in a season-opener since 2011 (
Alyssa Palmer, 21).
Shooting WoesUIS shot just 33 percent from the field (34-102) and 29 percent from three-point land in its first two games this season. Only five players are shooting at least 40 percent, led by freshman
Shelbi Patterson (64.3).
Going WithoutFor the first time in four seasons, the Prairie Stars will not have
Megan Bergerud in the lineup. UIS graduated its two all-time leading scorers in Bergerud and
Alyssa Palmer.
