Sarah Bond is in her second season as an assistant coach for the University of Illinois Springfield volleyball program in 2019. Bond was a three-year member of the Prairie Stars volleyball program as a player.
In her first year on the bench at UIS, Bond was part of a Prairie Stars squad that set program records with a 25-8 overall record and a 15-3 GLVC mark. UIS won its first GLVC regular season championship in program history, and also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time.
Bond helped in the development of five all-conference players, including two that earned all-region and All-American honors. UIS had one of the top defensive teams in the country, including finishing third nationally in blocks, and ranked in the top-30 in NCAA Division II offensively in hitting percentage.
Bond was a volleyball coach for five seasons with the Sports Performance Volleyball Club in Aurora, Ill. She assisted with high-level training camps across the country, and has trained players from the third-grade through college sophomores.
Bond was a player for the Prairie Stars from 2014-2016. She appeared in 13 matches throughout her career as a right-side hitter, and earned the team’s Coach’s Award as a senior.
Prior to coming to UIS, Bond played one season at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2013. She was also a club player at Sports Performance Volleyball Club for four years, and was a member of the Naperville North High School team from 2009-2013. Bond helped her high school team win the DuPage Valley Conference Championship in each of her four seasons. As a club player, she helped her program have runner-up finishes at the 2010 JVA Mid-Nationals, and the 2013 AAU National Championships.
Bond graduated from UIS in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Arts. She was named to the Athletic Honor Roll all three years that she attended UIS.
