Hannah Werth begins her second year as volunteer assistant coach for the Illinois Springfield volleyball program.

Werth is coming off a spring season where she played for Vaqueros de Bayamon professional voleibol club in Puerto Rico where she was a 2013 All-Star selection.

Werth's volleyball resume is quite impressive, and quite long due to her outstanding career at the University of Nebraska. A native of Glenwood High School in Chatham, Werth quickly became more than a blip on the national radar after she was named a first-team All-American by Volleyball Magazine and the 2008 Gatorade Illinois High School Player of the Year.

As a Husker, Werth started all four years of her collegiate career. She was selected to the All-Big 12
first-team in 2010 and 2011 and first team All-Big 10 in 2012.  A second-team All American and first-team All Midwest in 2012, Werth was just as talented defensively earning the 2010 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.  As a freshman Werth garnered the AVCA's National Freshman of the Year award, while also becoming the Big 12 Freshman of the Year. In all, Werth has earned more than 25 prestigous awards in her college career.

Selected to Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50, Werth was a AVCA first-team All-American totaling 606 kills, 252 assists, 220 digs and 54 aces. She was the MVP of the Under Armour High School All-America match and was rated as the No. 4 senior in the country by Prepvolleyball.com. She is a gold medal winning member of the U.S. Junior National Team at the 2008 NORCECA Continental Women's Junior Championships and holds the school records at Glenwood High School for digs, aces, blocks and hitting percentage.

Growing up as a family involved in sports was a large part of the Werth DNA. Her older brother Jayson is an outfielder for the Washington Nationals, while her older sister Hillary competed in track at UCLA. Hannah's mother Kim was a track star at Flrida and competed in the 1976 U.S. Olympic Trials in the long jump and 100 meters. Her father Dennis played four years for the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals. Hannah's uncle Dick Schofield and grandfather Dick "Ducky Schofield also played in the MLB.
