Former Illinois Springfield standout Chrisa Potthast-Leezer is in her third season as an assistant volleyball coach with the Prairie Stars.

Potthast-Leezer assists UIS Head Coach Angie Riggle with recruiting and conditioning as well as monitoring study tables and helping with all aspects practice and matches.

As a senior at UIS in 2003, Potthast was named first team All-American Midwest Conference and to the league’s all-academic team. Prior to joining the Prairie Stars, Potthast-Leezer played at Belleville Area College and Southwestern Illinois College.

Potthast-Leezer’s name still dots the UIS record book for solo, assisted, total and blocks per game. She also holds the record for blocks per game with 1.11 per match.

Along with her duties as a member of the volleyball staff, Potthast provides training to faculty/staff and students with disabilities on Assistive. She also provides one-on-one training in the use of adaptive technology. Potthast has expertise on all adaptive technology offered in the adaptive technology lab as well.

Potthast and her husband Brad reside in Springfield and have a daughter Abbigail, who was born in 2010.
