Natalie Sweeney

    Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Natalie Sweeney joined the UIS staff as an assistant women's basketball coach during the 2016-17 season.

Sweeney is responsible for perimeter skill development, building scouting reports, creating weekly schedules, arranging team travel, and coordinating the team's community service efforts.

Prior to her year with the Prairie Stars, Sweeney played four seasons at Morehead State. As a senior, she averaged 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2 assists per game.  Sweeney was 36 percent behind the arc and notched 18 double-figure scoring games. She tallied a career-high of 26 points at Georgia State on Nov. 21.

Sweeney graduated from Morehead State with a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education in 2015 and graduated from University of Illinois with master’s degree in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership in 2017. 

She was a four-time all-state athlete at Elizabethtown High School ... Selected to play for Kentucky All-Star team in the 2011 Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Game ... Averaged 14.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game as a senior while shooting 51 percent from three-point range ... Was named to the district and region all-tournament team as well as being named first-team all-state ... Tabbed the 5th Region Player of the Year and set school records in scoring, assists, three-pointers, and free throw percentage ... Was also named second-team all-state as a sophomore and junior and set the state record with 44 consecutive free throws made as a sophomore.
