Cameron Clayton

Cameron Clayton is in his third season as an assistant coach with the University of Illinois Springfield women’s basketball team in 2018-19.
 
In his first two seasons, the Prairie Stars have improved each season, and won a total of 22 games. Last year, UIS had its best season in 20 years, and it finished the year with a 13-13 overall record and a 7-11 GLVC mark.
 
In 2017-18, he helped two second-team all-conference performers in Destiny Ramsey and Shelbi Patterson. Clayton coached two all-GLVC players in 2016-17 as Syerra Cunningham and Ramsey both earned third-team honors.
 
Clayton came to UIS from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., a Division III institution in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). While at MacMurray, Clayton assisted in the team producing four all-conference selections, six players named to the Dean's List, and a team GPA of 3.2. 

Clayton served dual roles at MacMurray, also serving as the softball student assistant for a team which made an appearance in the SLIAC conference tournament and had four players named to the all-conference team. 

Clayton has also served as the head women's basketball coach at South Fork High School, and was the head coach for the Premier Basketball Girls All-Star game in 2015. 

Clayton received his bachelor's degree in Sports Management in December of 2015.
