HIGH SCHOOL
Faulkner spent four years with the Whitney Young High School basketball team and competed in football as a freshman.
 
During his freshman year, the Dolphins finished 9-1 in football and qualified for the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) 7A State Playoffs. In basketball season, Whitney Young put together a 28-5 season in basketball and captured the IHSA 4A state title.
 
As a sophomore, the Dolphins claimed the Junior Varsity Chicago Public Schools Championship. During his junior year, Whitney Young finished with a 15-8 record and secured an IHSA 4A regional title. As a senior, the Dolphins went 27-5 and earned the IHSA 4A state tile. Whitney Young captured both state titles under the leadership of Tyrone Slaughter, who earned the 2017 National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Boy’s Basketball Coach of the Year. The Dolphins compiled a record of 85-29 during the four-year span.
 
CLUB
Faulkner competed in club basketball for five years. He represented NBU Athletics from 2013-2015 and was named captain in 2015. Faulkner spent the 2016 season with ALL IN Athletics 17U, where he was also captain. He took the captain role in 2017 with Full Package 17U.
 
PERSONAL
Faulkner is pursuing a major in Business with a concentration in Economics. He is the son of Derrick W. Faulkner and Jessica Maxey-Faulkner. Faulkner has one sibling, Dylan.
 
WHY I CHOSE UIS
I chose UIS because it is a great academic institution, it has a beautiful campus and it is a good distance from home.
