Troy Pierce

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Troy Pierce begins his first season with the UIS men's basketball team as an assistant coach under head coach Ben Wierzba.

Prior to UIS, Pierce served as a student assistant coach at Emporia State. He assisted in coaching the top shot blocker in the Division II MIAA conference. While on the ESU staff, Pierce also saw three players earn MIAA honorable mention. He helped with scouting reports, player workouts and camp organization.

Pierce picked up several years of experience as a player, attending Butler Community College for two seasons. He helped BCC to a 24-9 record, which was one of the biggest turnarounds for a program that finished 9-21 a season earlier. Pierce led his team to Jayhawk Conference and Region VI titles and earned all-region honors for his performance.

After two seasons at BCC, Pierce transfered to Division I Charleston Southern University where he played one season. He closed out his college career at Emporia State, averaging 8.6 points per game and leading the team in rebounding.

Pierce earned his Bachelor of Science in psychology at Emporia State in 2013.
