Rich McBride is in his third season on the UIS Basketball under head coach Bill Walker.

A standout in the Springfield community, McBride comes to UIS after two seasons as assistant coach at his alma mater Lanphier High School. Former Illinois basketball guard earned All-Big Ten honorable mention as a senior and was part of the 2005 NCAA Final Four team. McBride closed out his career at Illinois as the fifth winningest player in school history, playing in 104 victories in his career.

Prior to Illinois he was a standout at Lanphier as a three-time all-state selection. He is Lanphier’s all-time leading scorer with 2,068 points and is the leading all-time scorer among Springfield’s class AA players. In 2002, McBride helped lead the Lions to a runner-up finish in the state championship. McBride also touts coaching experience at Green County (KY) and Cairo High School.
