Nick Hawn joined the University of Illinois Springfield men’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Hawn arrived in Springfield after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant and Head Varsity Reserve Coach at the University of Dubuque. During his time with the Spartans, he assisted with recruiting, scouting, film breakdown, player development, fundraising, and social media. As Head Varsity Reserve Coach, Hawn led the team to back-to-back winning seasons, with several players advancing to the varsity level.
Dubuque posted a 38-16 overall record and a 23-9 conference record during Hawn’s two seasons on staff, including capturing a 2025 American Rivers Conference Regular Season Championship. Nine players also earned American Rivers Conference All-Conference honors during his tenure.
Prior to Dubuque, Hawn was a dual-sport student-athlete at North Central College, competing in basketball and track & field. He earned Academic All-CCIW honors in basketball and was part of three consecutive CCIW Indoor and Outdoor Championship teams in track & field.
Hawn began his coaching career in 2020 with a local AAU program based out of Des Moines, Iowa, coaching high school and middle school teams during the spring and summer seasons. Originally from West Des Moines, Iowa, Hawn earned his bachelor’s degree in Management from North Central College in 2024 and his master’s degree from the University of Dubuque in 2026.
